Entrepreneurship runs in the family
A shared family passion is the key to our success, with the same spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation continually passed down the generations.
Daniel Le Coënt wrote the first chapter of the story in 1969. Encouraged by his father-in-law Henri Wirquin, a sanitary equipment wholesaler in Nantes, he had the innovative idea of manufacturing plastic flushing mechanisms. The breakthrough for this trailblazing concept came in 1972 with the opening of a production site in Carquefou on the outskirts of Nantes.
Wirquin was set up as a public limited company in 1977. Daniel Le Coënt was its President with his wife, Marie-Laure, as General Manager. This was the start of a great success story, resolutely driven by innovation.
Globally connected leaders
Gwenhaël and Grégory Le Coënt are now joint Group Presidents. They have increased the company’s global focus since Gwenhaël lives in the North of England and Grégory is based in Hong Kong.
This arrangement meets the following strategic priorities:
- Vision: the two managers are best placed to pick up on customer requirements (OEM, trade or retail) as they are in direct contact with the overseas markets in which we operate.
- Proximity: they regularly speak to staff at our subsidiaries. They also ensure that priorities identified by headquarters are applied and oversee global roll-out of its strategy.
- Efficiency: due to this global presence, we are able to anticipate developments in our sector and manage the group ever more efficiently.
With support in France from Group CEO, Jean-Marc Feltin who joins them on the Executive Board, the two Presidents can rely on a multidisciplinary Board of Directors to supervise and Manage the Group.
