Entrepreneurship runs in the family
A shared family passion is the key to our success, with the same spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation continually passed down the generations.
Daniel Le Coënt wrote the first chapter of the story in 1969. Encouraged by his father-in-law Henri Wirquin, a sanitary equipment wholesaler in Nantes, he had the innovative idea of manufacturing plastic flushing mechanisms. The breakthrough for this trailblazing concept came in 1972 with the opening of a production site in Carquefou on the outskirts of Nantes.
Wirquin was set up as a public limited company in 1977. Daniel Le Coënt was its President with his wife, Marie-Laure, as General Manager. This was the start of a great success story, resolutely driven by innovation.
A forward-looking group
Over the years, the company has established itself as a key player in the sanitary industry, driven by its ability to innovate and the strength of its values. By leveraging the commitment of its subsidiaries and a long-term vision, Wirquin has expanded internationally while preserving its human and family-oriented roots.
Today, under the leadership of Grégory Le Coënt, the company continues this collective journey with the same entrepreneurial passion. Its 900 employees design and market smart, sustainable solutions dedicated to the water cycle, combining performance, design, and environmental responsibility.
In response to today’s challenges, Wirquin is strengthening its commitment through an ambitious CSR approach. The objective is clear: to reduce the footprint of its activities, enhance the value of its people, and develop innovations that are both beneficial for the planet and for users’ everyday lives.
A success story where people, innovation, and excellence come together to shape a more sustainable future.
Grégory Le Coënt,
President of the Wirquin Group
